This will give u a good variety of stocks in one portfolio so u r not jumping in head first without knowing what is going on. Instead of ur $50 a month going into one share in a company, ur $50 is essentially split into buying several smaller portions of shares in hundreds of companies. If one company tanks, u will have 99 others making money to pull the investment up. Find a financial advisor to help find something for you.

Do not dump a whole bunch in all at once. If you're getting into the market right now & u have $5,000 u want to invest, start by putting something like $250 a month into the market. The markets might go up the markets might go down.it is very volitile right now so u never know from day to day if it is going to skyrocket or plummet some more. By putting ur money in a little at a time u will catch some of the low tides when the stocks r cheap & they will grow when the market comes back up. This is called Dollar Cost Averaging.
