l am planning on waiting until some of this dust settles to get back in the stock market but l am trying to look at some stocks to put in my roth ira.l am thinking defense stocks because both McCain and Obama realize that the military is too small and needs to grow (thanks to the Clinton administration is reducing the military to bones!Easy to balance the budget when you destroy the military!!).Also with Putin buddying up to Chavez and China is interests in the Panama Canal l just feel that defense is going to be a very strong sector looking forward.What do you think?

For the next year or so, do not think defense, think defensive.

Buy some gold. gold mining stocks or the gold ETF.

Companies like Rio Tinto (RTP) have recession resistant internationally diversified mining operations. 1) They make money. 2) They r a hedge against the inevitable decline in the US dollar.

Another possibility is BRK.B, Warren Buffett is company. Somehow Buffett is the only guy in the world to have cash on hand to buy good companies at depressed prices.

His lifetime average is 18.1% annualized gain. It varies from 8% to 40%. These r the times when he makes 40%.

Defense? Government will soon have NO ADDITIONAL MONEY to spend on anything, including bridge repairs, healthcare, or global warming.

Keep ur eye on the larger trends. As India & China move towards free market capitalism we r moving towards marxism/socialism/liberalism/progressism.
