l tried asking this the other day, but my responses were not that great.l make between 35K per year, not much, but l am starting to do short term profits off stocks. How much % of the stock is usually taxed? So if l buy stocks for 2000, and sell for 3000, will they tax me about 25% of my 3000 dollars based on my income? im confused

your tax would be based on your total combined income here in Australia

It depends on where u live. In the USA it will be a capital gains tax. If they r short gains, u pay more than if they r long gains. If they r short gains, it is the same as ur income. So if u make about $35k & pay about 20% in taxes, they tax it at 20%.

However, if it is long term gains (usually more than a year that you've held the stock) then that amount will drop to 15% or even 0% if u r making low enough for the next two years.

check out the site below for more information or just search for ''capital gain tax'' online
