The sucide rate increased 30% from previous years. The 1st site only refers to the increase but gives any actual #s The second refers to non infant death rates as homicides and suicides per 1000. So the acual count may not be obtainable if the feds did not keep track state to state.only a guestimation.

The suicide rates increased from 14 to 17 per 100,000, so about 3 per 100,000. Today there are about 300,000,000 Americans, so 3 per 100,000 would be about 9,000 Americans per year if the same increase happened today.
At the time of the great depression the population was closer to 125,000,000 and, depending how you measure it, the depression lasted about five years. That would make the number of people who killed themselves around
1,250 x 3 x 5 = 18,750.
