The US government is now in control of AIG. And if you trust that the US government will try to make good profits for AIG shareholders. Then by all means invest in it.
Although if you look at the huge national debt the US government has run up so far. Then perhaps you need to exercise some caution and not trust too much the business management skills of the US government.
