l am holding on to about 200 shares of Fannie Mae (FNM) and getting more nervous as the day goes by.The stock has been up and down all day, but staying around $1.60 per share.Should l just turn the ticker off and ride this out (or at least until we know how the House is going to vote on the bill tomorrow)?Thank you.

For $320, l would ride it out. That is less than what a single night in Atlantic City or Las Vegas would cost you.

First, ask yourself why r u holding FNM?

If its speculation (which it is) then hold on to it. Speculation is done with the given fact that u will risk a stock hitting 0. You speculate with smaller amounts of money than u do with the rest of ur portfolio. So in ur case u want to hold the FNM.

If the bailout goes through there should be an initial surge of the markets. This should be why ur holding FNM. Once the initial surge takes place dont hold on to it to long. l can not say how long but once u see that initial surge & ur feel comfortable with ur earnings then get out of it. Do not get to greedy holding FNM or l believe it will turn around to bite you.

Thats my take on FNM as l also have the stock as a percentage of my portfolio for speculation.

l think you could have been better off opening a Roth Ira and putting $320.00 into the S&P 500 and hold it for 15-20 years.

If you are worried about $320, then you should not be speculating.

Technically the stock is worth zero.

l did the same today for FRE

i am expecting a rally tomorrow & l will let it ALL go before the end of day tomorrow or before they vote on friday.

i aint playing this risky speculation game all the way through. i'd rather buy it back after the vote result. the outcome of house vote if it fails again the loss is far greater than gain if it does pass when ur risk of losing become much greater than the chance of making profit l would trim my positions to 30%

i bought 300 shares of FRE $1.75 & l set my stop loss limit order of $1.60 right away

you have to have an exit strategy RIGHT AWAY when u r dealing with extremely risky stocks like FRE, FNM, AIG, WB, MBI, ABK
