RB l is the apex bank for India, they play a vital role in controlling the economy or monetary or credit flow in the country & aboard. They set the bank rate, CRR rate, which indirectly affect the interest rate in the financial market. They also control the inflation by taking up various moneytary measures. Every Bank has to get the prior permission form them in order to carry on with their bussiness.

This RB l issued currency notes on behalf of the Government of India except Re1/- notes & coins. The Governor of RB l signs on all currency notes.
