I will be starting a virtual stock market game soon in a team of four and l would like to know what the best area of the poor performing market (FTSE 100) would be best to invest a virtual £100,000 into.

Cheers for any advice.

Depends on the game objectives, really. If the aim is to maximise returns. then go for leveraged products like warrants - virtually any warrant written on a major index has sufficient volatility to make things really interesting. l prefer the HS l (Hong Kong Stock Index) as it is one of the most volatile around.

If to achieve a stable portfolio with solid annualized returns, then value invest (purchase stocks that r currently trading below their intrinsic value in terms of potential). Stocks that r in a solid business & strong cash flows/dividend policies r best.
