Perhaps GM and Chrysler are hoping to become too big to fail, just like the banks. And that is why they are merging.

Their only hope is lots of help from the government. But the problem is that the government is already helping too much and guaranteeing too much.

It is possible for the government to save a company or two. But even the government is not big enough to save the whole economy.

GM is only purchasing a portion of MOPAR, not the whole Chrysler Conglomerate. The remaining divisions of MOPAR will remain a company until they r sold off by Daimler.

Currently, GM is $54 Billion in debt from bad car loans, & the market for new cars has dropped to almost zero. The earnings per share r a whopping $103 per share LOSS.

On the other hand, they r the biggest car manufacturer in the world with assembly plants all around the planet. They will survive, but they will be in pain for a few years. l do not think u should look for a quick profit with this stock.

No. You are looking at an industry that is glutted with product and no buyers. Their retirment obligations are outpacing revenue. l can think of a few better industries to invest in.
