When gas was soaring the oil companies and others said because oil is soaring, but what is the reason now it does not have as big of an effect?

But the national average is a dollar lower than it was last year. So yes, it has dropped. Keep in mind we still have not built a refinery in over 30 years. You do not pump the stuff out of the ground and directly into your tank. It takes time to take the oil and turn it into gas. So the price reflection is not immediate.

2. They actually did get relatively low by me, but NJ had some of the lowest gas prices around! You can get it for 2.79 a gallon some places.

the simple answer is that number/price is for November delivery. so you wont see the price dropping for a little while but it will drop.

How much it drops depends on if governments start adding taxes to it to cover the loses they are taking
