Are the silver quarters from the early 1960 is really made of silver?
If so, considering the price of silver, are they worth more the 25 cents?

Quarters have been made of cupronickel since 1965. Pre-1965 quarters are silver. Common circulated ones are supposed to be worth about $3 these days (based on a real quick google search). Check eBay to see what they're selling for.

l think l read a while ago that quarters, half dollars & silver dollars made before 1965 had a considerably higher silver content than those made after that year. They r not 100% silver, however, so do not melt them down. If there were, then they would tarish from exposure to the air.

If u have a large stockpile of these types of coins, they can be sold to coin collectors. Watch silver prices, put do not expect fifty pounds of coins to fund ur retirement.
