Since the stock market has been bad my dad and l are thinking about putting 10k each into GM stocks. Would this be a good short term investment? What other stocks would be a better choice?

l would suggest you to stay away from market for few more days. Things are not good. You will get the stocks dirt cheap in few more sessions.

l am not an analyst but GM is stock price is not under-evaluated, because that GM is loosing money right now.

You could have a look at business that are low priced because of the current financial crisis and those who are not going to be too much affected by the next mount low activity in the economy. think bank and tech maybe?

l would go for gold, steel and oil because these stocks always have a good stability in the stock market. Good luck.

l am guessing you want to invest in several classes of GM stock? Well, l like gm too, but not that much. Maintain standard rules of diversification in this market. If something unforeseen occurred, what would happen then? Otherwise go for it.
