How much (% wise) has the stock market fallen?

The S&P reached a high one year ago from last week. The recent low also within this past week marks a 39% drop.

Ha it depends on the day, but the DOW reached a high of round 14,100 back in october of last year, so if you take the DOW right now (8802), its around 37.5%..weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It is falling so fast that it is hard to pin the number down. By the time l have answered this it will probably have fallen another couple of %. And of course which stock market r u referring to & over what period of time? The S&P 500 has dropped about 35.7% since Jan 1, 2008. But other stock markets have dropped even more. Some consolation. Actually, it might have been worse; l think that as companies failed they were dropped from the index & replace by otheres that were not doing so badly.
