Share Market to be very vague is as good as buying a portion of the company in the form of paper.Now,the growth & the profit of the company makes u profit too & the vice versa.

When a promoter has a business idea or wants to expand his business & his own funds r not sufficient he asks other people to invest money in his company. He can either seek partners or share holders. The difference between the two is that the liability of share holder is limited only to the face value of his share in the company & he is not personally liable to the creditors of the company. Also the share holder can sell his share in the company at his wish whenever he likes.

For the company to raise funds from share market, it has to be listed with a recognised stock exchange like NSE or BSE. When the company issues shares for the first time, it is said to be from Primary market. Once the shares r listed & trading begins it is said to trade in the Secondary Market. Generally this secondary market is called the Share market.

There r many sellers & buyers of shares of a company. A share market has different participants like traders, stock brokers, investors, depositories, stock exchanges, etc.
