Stay away from financials, they will be shunned for years to come, it will take a whole new generation of investors before people will feel safe buying financial stocks.

Some car companies r excellent stocks, like GM for example. First time GM stock has been below $5 since 1950. No reason at all for the stock to be depressed right now. It was caught in the sell off by scared investors.

GMAC (GM division that finances new cars) has money to loan. GM is rolling out it is new line of Eco hybrid is & cross over cars, already has the gas economy models in production in other parts of the world, just needs to tool up that technology here.

Perhaps this time around stocks r not going to be rising really high the way they used to before. Because people, who used to buy a lot of stocks & drive up stock prices, now do not have the kind of money they used to have.

Stock prices were usually driven up with lots & lots of borrowed money. Various Hedge Funds & investment banks borrowed as much as 60 times the amount of money they had in their reserves. And they used all that money to buy a lot of stocks, which drove up stock prices.

But now many investment banks r either bankrupt or close to bankruptcy. And many Hedge Funds r selling their investments like crazy, because their clients want their money back.

The institutional investors r in big trouble now. And the government is changing the rules for them. Which means that in the future they wo not be able borrow as much money as they did before & drive up the stock prices.

Stock prices have been held artificially high with lots of borrowed money. And now that people & companies r not allowed to borrow as much as before. Stock prices will come down a lot. And stock prices probably wo not go up the same way they used to before.

At some point it will be a good time to buy stocks of companies that pay good dividends. But l think these companies r still overpriced at their present stock prices.
