Where can you buy gold as an investment

Very very few places. Due to the suppression of prices, demand far out-weighed supply and it is very hard to find anything under a 10 oz bar, and even those are hard to come by.
Try apmex.com, that is my personal favorite.

If you want an EXTREMELY rare 1 ounce 999.9 fine Engelhard gold bar (untouched proof with assay card and all), email me- alexwltrgmail.com

There r several places. Speak to a broker & they can help u out.

Just a little advice, though, from someone who knows a little something about investing. We r currently in the largest deflationary environment since the great depression. Investing in gold only works if u r in an inflationary environment.

In short. As long as u see things getting cheaper at the store, stay in cash with less than 250K at any local bank. It is safe. If u see prices start to rise rapidly (inflation) & housing prices stabilizing, however, which is likely in a couple years because of what they r doing now, then immediately invest in gold. It will be the best investment in that environment.. Right now, however, cash is best..

Good Luck & l Hope this Helps..

l was looking to buy a few oz bars when we hit 775 and could not find any locally. They're on ebay but massively overpriced by the time the auction ends. l wanted bad, but price is too high for me now and l could not make any money on it at today is levels. If you just want to trade the price of gold on the makret? Which l do not think you do based on the question? But gld. 10 shares is almost equivalent of the spot price of an oz.

Any of the local coin shops have gold and silver ingots and medalions in various weights if you want to hold and feel it.

Otherwise, open a brokerage account and buy gold shares. The gold stays in a vault somewhere, and you hold a certificate saying you own it until you sell it on the open market.

It takes at least ten thousand to start a commodity account; l would suggest at least twice that. If that is not a problem, use a reputable firm like merrill lynch. Maybe start with options, which have little inherent risk.

Do not think gold is a great investment right now, unless you are speculating. Oil is taking a dive, and commodities generally go in same direction. But of coarse, just an opinion. If you are just trying to avoid the market meltdown, most are going into ginnie mae is for now.

If you were interested in taking part of the Gold boom but do not have enough money to actually buy physical Gold or Gold commodity contracts, you can buy the stock symbol GLD. It is an exchange traded fund (ETF) that you can buy just like a stock that mimics the movement in Gold.

It should be no surprise that the supply of gold is drying up due to heavy demand.

You might check here, you can buy physical gold, or shares in a ''pool'' account, where they store your gold for you:
